Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of this course; is to examine the electrotherapy modalities, electrophysiological principles, the responses of tissues against electrotherapy applications, the mechanisms of action and application methods of low, medium and high frequency currents that are widely used in physiotherapy.
Course Content This course covers the following topics: 'Derivation of flat galvanic current', 'Iontophoresis', 'Medical and surgical galvanism', 'Modified galvanic current', 'Electrodiagnosis', 'Low-frequency currents', 'Diadynamic currents', 'Interferential currents', 'Electric shock', 'Surgers', 'Functional electrical stimulation', 'Ultra Reiz' and 'Russian currents'.

1Introduction to electrotherapy, basic concepts.
2Electrical properties of cells and tissues.
3Properties of the direct current, Iontophoresis technique.
4Medical and surgical galvanism techniques.
5Sensory and motor nerve activations, effects of stimulation in healthy and denervated muscle, electric shock.
6Modified galvanic methods, functional electrical stimulation.
7Faradic current practices and electrodiagnosis.
8High-voltage intermittent galvanic stimulation
9Midterm
10Pain physiology, mechanism of action and implementation methods of TENS.
11Specifications and application methods of diadynamic current.
12Specifications and application methods of Interferential current.
13Characteristics and application methods of microcurrens and Ultra Reiz current.
