Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of this course is to give information about the sources of early and classical Ottoman history.
Course Content Early Ottoman Chronicles: Aşıkpaşazade, Neşri and Tursun Bey Byzantine chronicles of the period: Pachimeres, Dukas and Chalcondiles XVI and XVII. century Ottoman chronicles and content analysis with examples Classification groups with archive catalog information and resources Resources produced by the Ottoman institutions: Tahrir books, foundations, the introduction of the mummies and Sharia registers, sample reading and analysis The usage of Ottoman historical sources and their tendencies in producing information XVII. century sources, Evliya Çelebi and Avarız, Cizye books introduction and content information Generating information using at least one of the sources
