Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	The aim of this course is to give information about the sources of early and classical Ottoman history.
Course Content	Early Ottoman Chronicles: Aşıkpaşazade, Neşri and Tursun Bey Byzantine chronicles of the period: Pachimeres, Dukas and Chalcondiles XVI and XVII. century Ottoman chronicles and content analysis with examples Classification groups with archive catalog information and resources Resources produced by the Ottoman institutions: Tahrir books, foundations, the introduction of the mummies and Sharia registers, sample reading and analysis The usage of Ottoman historical sources and their tendencies in producing information XVII. century sources, Evliya Çelebi and Avarız, Cizye books introduction and content information Generating information using at least one of the sources

The aim of the course

The aim of this course is to give information about the sources of early and classical Ottoman history.

Course Content

Learning Outcomes

Gains knowledge of the nature and basic concepts of the science of history
Defend the importance of scientific knowledge.
Have the basic knowledge on the examples of World and Turkish History from prototypes to contemporary ones.
Define the contemporary research methods of the field.
Follows the bibliography of the studies on the science of history according to the countries and schools in written, printed and virtual environments.
Use the resources related to the History literature.
Offer solutions to the matters related to literature relying on researches and proposals.
Apply academic and professional skills to the associated works cooperated with other fields of human sciences.
Apply the contemporary research methods to History literature.
Perform a work on literature independently.
Take responsibilities both individually and as a part of a team in a research, a project or a practice related to literature
Plan and organise cultural and social activities on literature.
Use academic methods and sense of arts to review and analyze texts and oral works effectively.
Evaluate the acquired knowledge and skills on Literature critically.
Plan and manage the process of learning.
Follow the developments in the field of using a foreign language.
Be respectful to moral, national, humanistic and cultural values and be aware of his/her responsibilities to his/her country, nation and mankind.
Acquaint various groups of listeners with literature orally and in written.
Have the ability to represent the History literature.
Gain competence of a researcher who is innovative and open to new ideas.
Use all the resources related to occupational safety and environmental protection.
In all studies of the field be attentive to academic, social, cultural and ethical values.

7	Vak-anüvislik, Vak-anüvisler and their works: Use as a historical source, analysis.
8	Press and media organs, the formation of modern public opinion in the Ottoman Empire, journalists and newspapers.
9	exam
10	Journalists and newspapers in Tanzimat Period. Values as historical source
11	Journalists and newspapers in the First Constitutional Monarchy. Values as historical source
12	The Ottoman Press in the Second Constitutional Period and its value as a historical source.
13	Magazines and magazines in the Ottoman Empire
14	Sources and general evaluation on Ottoman history.
