Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Teaching the design of the built environment as a whole of passive and active environmental subsystems with optimal performance in climate, light, sound, and fire health control by producing alternative solutions.
Course Content Climate and climate elements, climatic comfort, design variables related to the built environment that are effective in climate and energy control (location, direction, building envelope, building shape, building spacing, etc.), designing the built environment as an energy-efficient passive air conditioning system. Definition of light, visual comfort, and design variables related to the built environment that are effective in light control (windows, volume dimensions, internal surface reflectivity, external obstacles, artificial light sources, etc.). Fire events, design variables related to the built environment that play a role in fire control (settlement density, organization of volumes, fire escapes, etc.), designing the built environment as passive and active systems in fire protection. Introducing the environmental standards and regulations valid in Turkey (fire regulations, noise regulations, heat conservation regulations, etc.)
