Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of this course is to provide awareness and utilization of biobased materials and biotechnologies for future design and architectural use. This course will focus on biodegradable product research and will examine in depth the use of wood, wood-based materials, materials produced with bacteria, materials based on plant fibers, structures based on the reuse of high-tech waste, and materials created with mycelium technology.
Course Content Bio-based materials will be introduced within the framework of circular design in the context of architecture, building materials and industrial design elements, their properties, development and design processes according to the types of bio-based materials, their behavior in the face of different effects will be explained and their potential for use in different applications will be compared with existing building materials.
