Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Providing information on topics related to thermal comfort and hygienic comfort from the perspective of physical comfort conditions.
Course Content Concept of physical environment and physical elements, heat transfer pathways, measures related to heat exchange in building envelopes, general knowledge about heat and humidity, purpose and scope of solar regulation, climate and design factors, HVAC systems, clean water supply, wastewater systems, wet space design, rainwater drainage, and fire protection systems - general information about these topics.

Weekly Course Subjects

1General information about the course content / Physical environment and its elements / Physical comfort conditions / Environmental standards and regulations in Turkey (Thermal insulation regulations, fire regulations, noise regulations, lighting standards)
2Heat and temperature concept / Heat propagation paths / thermal comfort and factors
3Building envelope (single layer shell, double shell systems, smart shell systems)
4Transparent areas in the building envelope and types of glazing
5Solar Utilization and Protection/ Application 1 - U-Value
6Climate and design factors (site selection and topography, orientation, building spacing, building form, building envelope design) / Application 2 - Study on Utilizing and Protecting from the Sun
7Climate and design factors / Shading analysis / Examples of applying an active or passive system to an existing project (flat collector, PV, trombe wall, solar room, etc.)
8Air conditioning systems and their elements/ Integration of central and individual systems with architecture/ Application 3 - Site Selection and Orientation in the Context of Climate-Balanced Design
