Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Provide the preservice teachers with core skills that will enable them to use Turkish effectively. Design materials that are suitable for existing programmes by recognizing the different methods and techniques in the teaching of reading. Provide with fluent writing abilities. Comprehend reading and writing as a task that should be done during lifetime.
Course Content Listening, speaking, visual reading and visual presentation; reading - writing definition and course and the relationship between learning fields, characteristic of Turkish, effect of its characteristic to first reading and writing teaching, sound based sentence method practice of reading and writing instruction through stages of sound based sentence method.

1Introduction to teaching of primary reading and writing and the importance of primary reading writing and Turkish
2Presenting the primary reading writing teaching, analysis of course books
3Sound based sentence method, stages, instruments, techniques of this method; content of primary reading writing; letter groups, usage of Italic and non-italic writing in primary reading writing
4Sample activity of teaching sound e and letter e
5Sample activity of teaching sound l and letter l, open syllable, closed syllable, word production
6Sample activity of teaching sound a, k, i, n and letter a, k, i, n phrase production, synthesis of letters e,l,a,k, i, n
7Practicing teaching: sounds a and k, learning the principles that are used to produce texts, sentences and phrases
8Mid-term exam-Practicing teaching: e,l,a,k,i,n; o,m,u,t,ü,y presenting the uppercase, lowercase letters, numbers and punctuation
