Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of the course is to introduce the student to important art, works of art and art movements throughout its history. In order to understand the development of art within the conceptual, critical, socio-economic and socio-cultural system, the aim of the art history course, which is shaped by the changing ontological meaning and function of art in different periods, is to enable students to make readings on artists and works of art.
Course Content The aim of the course is to enable the student to recognize important works of art and movements that have taken place in the literature of art history, and to learn art forms and movements in their historical context.

1Introduction to Art and Art History; What is art, who is called an artist? What is the philosophy of art? Discussion on the Aesthetics and the Beautiful.
2Prehistoric Art; Discussion on layers of consciousness, cultural stages, goddess cult, contemporary interpretations over Kybele.
3Ancient Egyptian History and Art; Pyramids and burial culture, Art of painting and sculpture.
4The Great Awakening, Greek Architecture and Art in Greece; Ancient Greece and its periods, columns in Greek architecture, relief art in Greek.
