Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of this course is to provide a universal perspective on science and the scientist from the perspective of science. Explaining the basic concepts of science and the nature of science, examining the basic views in the field of philosophy of science (falsification (K. Popper), paradigm and scientific revolutions (T. Kuhn), research programs (I. Lakatos).
Course Content The nature of science, the relationship between science and technology, the structure of scientific revolutions and the concept of paradigm, the distinction between science and pseudo-science, scientific methods, scientific communities from history to the present day, examples from scientists and human characteristics of scientists
