Purpose and Content

The aim of the course To obtain detailed knowledge and skills about the selection, application and adaptation of auditory implants and ancillary equipment necessary for the habilitation / rehabilitation of the patient following the diagnosis of hearing loss in the audiology and to review the developments in the technology of auditory implants.
Course Content This course will review the history of cochlear implants, the regulatory role of cochlear implants and other implantable devices, and the components and functions of these devices. Students will learn the basics of electrical stimulation and signal processing strategies used in implantable devices, behavioral and objective assessment techniques, candidate criteria and factors affecting outcomes, and measurement tools for children and adults.
