Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	To get students comprehend the main concepts about science and science education, social dimension of it, the importance of scientific literacy, the objectives and teachning approach of teaching science and technology.
Course Content	The main concepts about science and science education, characters of science, technology, scientific knowledge and scientific methods, scientific literacy, the relation of science-technology-society and enviroment, attitudes towards sience and the aim of science education, historical development of science teaching in Turkey and in the world, constructivism and science teaching, cognitive development and science education, characteristics of primary education science curriculum and the relation between the other lessons, design and apply science activities to make students improve scientific thinking in the light of contemporary learning approaches.

The aim of the course

To get students comprehend the main concepts about science and science education, social dimension of it, the importance of scientific literacy, the objectives and teachning approach of teaching science and technology.

Course Content

The main concepts about science and science education, characters of science, technology, scientific knowledge and scientific methods, scientific literacy, the relation of science-technology-society and enviroment, attitudes towards sience and the aim of science education, historical development of science teaching in Turkey and in the world, constructivism and science teaching, cognitive development and science education, characteristics of primary education science curriculum and the relation between the other lessons, design and apply science activities to make students improve scientific thinking in the light of contemporary learning approaches.

Learning Outcomes

On the basis of qualifications gained; interpret the concepts related their area and relationships between these concepts.
Evaluate the development ,learning styles and learning disabilities of the students.
Have knowledge of teaching programs, teaching strategies, assessment and evaluation methods and techniques about the field of education of Gifted Education.
Evaluate the knowledge’s nature, source, boundaries, accuracy, reliability and validity.
Comprehend the methods of scientific knowledge production.
Use the further sources of information related with the field of education of Gifted Education.
Identify and analyze the problems about the field of education of Gifted Education and develop solutions.
Being able to identify and analyze the problems about their field and develop solution suggestions according to researches.
Conceptualize the events related to the education of Gifted Education.
Apply most appropriate teaching strategies, methods and techniques taking account development characteristics individual differences of students and characteristics of the subject area.
Evaluate the acquisitions of students by using different evaluation methods.
Take responsibility in individual and group works and accomplish this responsibility affectively.
Use of the aspects of their creative and powerful charecteristics to improve thier weeknesses.
Take responsibility to solve the unpredictable and complex problems encountered in practice as an individual or a member of a group.
Evaluate acquired knowledge and skills critically.
Determine needs of learning and manage their learning process.
Develop positive attitudes to lifelong learning.
Use the ways of accessing to information affectively.
Participate in the artistic and cultural events.
Be sensitive about agenda of society and the world events / developments and follow these developments.
Plan and practice the professional activities and projects as a sense of social responsibility.
Instruct the persons and institutions about the education of Gifted Education.
Share their ideas and solution suggestions with experts and other people by the support of quantitative and qualitative data.
Be an example to the community considering their external appearance, attitudes and behaviors.
Have enough awareness about environmental protection and job security.
Develop awareness of the national and the universal values that expressed in the National Education Basic Law.
Obey the laws, regulations and legislation related to duties rights and responsibilities.
