IAU Disaster Preparedness Trainings

Istanbul has many dangers that can turn into disasters due to its proximity to the North Anatolian Fault Line and other dangers that can turn into a technology-based disaster. The 1999 Marmara Earthquakes showed us this with a bitter experience. As it is known, the earthquakes that took place on 17 August and 12 November 1999 and the secondary hazards associated with these earthquakes were informative enough about the economic and social dimensions of the damages that Istanbul may face in a possible disaster. In order not to experience similar losses again, every organization that continues its activities in big cities such as Istanbul, which has significant effects on the economy of our country, should encourage all its personnel to prepare for disasters. With the realization of this study, institutions will contribute to ensuring the safety of employees and their families, as well as preventing interruptions in business continuity after disasters. As Istanbul Aydın University Disaster Training Application and Research Center, with this awareness, we carried out individual preparedness trainings against disasters in 10 separate sessions for the personnel working in Florya Campus of our university between 21 - 25 June 2016.
