Sisli Munucipality Neighborhood Kitchen Opening 19.11.2020

Our graduate, graduate student and Aleyna Yıldırım, who is one of the expert researchers of the TÜBİTAK Project, attended the opening of the Neighborhood Kitchen, which was organized by Şişli Municipality on 19.11.2020, designed by Social Worker Öznur Sarıahmetoğlu, who is the Director of Şişli Municipality Social Support Services, and her team. The starting point of the project is basically to support women's employment and to provide access to healthy and clean food. Based on the assumption that individuality comes to the fore in the globalizing world, the idea of creating a grassroots organization by reviving the culture of solidarity is one of the other objectives of the project. To revive traditional cuisine instead of industrial ready-made foods by preferring traditional methods in the production processes of Neighborhood Cuisine; to ensure access to healthy, clean food and the dissemination of the use of natural cleaning and hygiene products. It is aimed to create permanent solutions locally by supporting women's employment in terms of preventing urban poverty, which is one of the main problems of social work and brings many problems with it. Emphasizing the importance of cooperation in local studies, Öznur Sarıahmetoğlu plans to expand the Neighbourhood Kitchens, the first of which was opened, in every neighborhood of Şişli district by collaborating with institutional structures such as local cooperatives and universities in the later stages of the project. As Istanbul Aydın University Social Work Department, we continue to follow these studies in terms of cooperation with local governments and universities.
