Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Making the students attain the knowledge about the history, deontology and the process of professionalization of Nursing/Midwifery; making them adopt the professional ethical principles and teaching them the contemporary roles, old and new legislations and regulations regarding the profession.
Course Content Equipping the students, within the course settings, with the theoretical knowledge and case examples about the history, deontology, professionalization of the profession, and the ethical principles, the contemporary roles and the old and new legislations and regulations in the profession.

2Sociological characteristics of the profession; ethics, deontology
3Patient care and the historical development of the nursing in the world
4The historical development of midwifery and nursing in Turkey
5Philosophy and team approach; organization. Legal aspects of the profession
6The roles and responsibilities in the profession
7Professionals values
8Professional conflicts and nursing dilemna
9Patients rights and the cases where the legal liability is abolished
10The events which contribute to the development processes of nursing and midwifery
11Contemporary attempts towards care and treatment and the ethics
12National and international institutions regarding the health
13Leadership in the profession
14Evaluation of the course
