Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	The objective of this course is to deal with the historical development of constitutionalism, analyzing it in a broad perspective and deciding what kind of meanings should be attached to constitutionalism, analysis and solutions of the Constitutional Court judgments and contemporary constitutional law.
Course Content	The constitutional developments from the Ottoman Empire until the Republic, constitutions of the Republican period, the preparation of 1982 Constitution, “basic principles” in 1982 Constitution, the significance of fundamental rights and freedoms in Turkish constitutional system, the arrangement of legislative, executive and judicial branches, separation of powers, balance of powers and constitutional judgment are discussed in this course unit.

Course Content

The constitutional developments from the Ottoman Empire until the Republic, constitutions of the Republican period, the preparation of 1982 Constitution, “basic principles” in 1982 Constitution, the significance of fundamental rights and freedoms in Turkish constitutional system, the arrangement of legislative, executive and judicial branches, separation of powers, balance of powers and constitutional judgment are discussed in this course unit.
