  • What is the language of medical education?
  • There are 2 programs at Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine. The language of instruction in the Turkish program is entirely Turkish. In the English program, the first 3 years are entirely in English, and in the clinical training starting in the 4th year which includes patient bedside education is conducted in Turkish, while the classes continue in English and Turkish.

  • How is the language proficiency determined for the English program?
  • The English proficiency is determined based on the results of the language proficiency exam organized by the university or the results of nationally or internationally recognized exams (such as TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, CPE, KPDS, YDS, YÖKDİL, etc.). Students who fail the language proficiency exam are placed in a one-year preparatory class. Upon successful completion of this period, students start the 1st year of the English Program at the Faculty of Medicine. Students who are unsuccessful are given an additional year. If they fail again at the end of this period, their affiliation with the university is terminated.

  • Is there a language requirement for foreign students who want to study in the Turkish program?
  • The language of instruction in the Faculty of Medicine Turkish Program is Turkish. Foreign students enrolling in this program are required to demonstrate a minimum C1 level of proficiency in Turkish. Students who cannot prove their proficiency at this level in Turkish are required to take the Turkish Language exam conducted by Istanbul Aydın University Turkish Teaching and Research Center. Students who fail this exam receive one year of education at Istanbul Aydın University Turkish Teaching and Research Center. Upon completion of this period, students who fail the language exam are given an additional year. If they fail again at the end of this period, their affiliation with the university is terminated.

  • What is the educational program of the Faculty of Medicine like?
  • The Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine Educational Program is a comprehensive program designed to train future healthcare professionals. This education aims to provide students with a broad knowledge and skill set covering the fundamentals of medical science, methods of diagnosis and treatment of diseases, patient care, and health management. For this reason, medical education is implemented in accordance with the Core Curriculum. Starting from molecules that constitute the smallest unit of life, cells, the program progresses to complex systems and pathologies, addressing the body's systems in an integrated manner. After completing this program, students are able to communicate with real patients during the clinical phase. In the Clinical Applied Courses conducted in the 4th and 5th years, students directly encounter real patient cases in hospitals and clinical settings. During this period, theoretical knowledge is combined with clinical practice to help students develop skills such as patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning. During the internship period, students have the opportunity to practice medicine under the supervision of faculty members in hospitals for one year, allowing them to fully apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired. Medical education also promotes skills such as research, leadership, teamwork, and continuous professional development. Students are equipped with the ability to conduct scientific research, review medical literature, and stay updated with current developments. Additionally, topics such as patient safety, patient rights, and public health are emphasized to encourage students to adopt a community-oriented approach to medicine.

  • Where does the education take place?
  • The English preparatory program and the first three years of basic medical sciences education take place at Istanbul Aydın University's Halit Aydın Florya Campus. Starting from the fourth year, the education continues at Istanbul Aydın University Health Application and Research Center Hospital, located next to the Florya Campus, as well as at other training and research hospitals directed by the Provincial Health Directorate (such as Başakşehir Çam and Sakura State Hospitals).

  • Are there opportunities for studying abroad and Erasmus?
  • For all students, opportunities for summer internships and laboratory studies in different educational institutions are supported from the early years. Within the scope of the Erasmus Exchange Program, many students from various European countries come to Istanbul Aydın University each year, and students are sent to institutions with which the university has agreements.   • Does Istanbul Aydın University have dormitories?
  • Istanbul Aydın University has a girls' dormitory prepared with a luxury concept, consisting of a total of 265 rooms, including 11 guest houses with different features. It provides a peaceful, safe, comfortable, enjoyable, warm, and hygienic environment for 600 domestic and international students throughout their education. Additionally, there are many other dormitories for both girls and boys in the campus vicinity.   • The application dates for undergraduate transfers for the fall semester of the 2023-2024 academic year will be announced after the calendar is published by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
