Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of this course is to gain basic knowledge and skills about audiology and audiometric measurement techniques.
Course Content Physical properties of sound: definition of sound, sound velocity, sine wave, wavelength. Basic symbols about audiology: dB,SPL,HL,SL . Introduction to hearing examination: examination of the ear, airway and bone concepts, whisper test, tuning fork test. Audiometric Analysis Methods: Pure tone audiometry, measuring with audiometry device, configuration. Masking: definition and importance and basics . Supraliminer Audiometry: definition and classifications, indications and interpretation. Speech audiometry: audiometric measurement using the human voice, concepts of SRT, SDS, UCL, MCL. Impedance audiometry: Acoustic impedance measurements and basic concepts. Static and Dynamic Compliance: Acoustic impedance measurements , static and dynamic measurement. Tympanometry: importance, spesific types. Tympanometry application: tympanometric measurement methods. Stapes reflex and clinical applications: definition, importance and principles of formation. Evaluation of hearing losses with Impedance Audiometer.
