Purpose and Content

The aim of the course It introduces students who learn the basic concepts of journalism to the structure and concepts of news in radio and television environments. It shows the distinction between news texts and other texts. It informs about the processes and how the news is created. It provides students with information about radio and television journalism and its applications. It enables students to make radio and television news.
Course Content Main topics such as features of radio-television journalism, editing in radio-television journalism, preparation of news bulletins, use of image and sound in radio-television news constitute the scope of the course. The news contents that students will make by taking into account the characteristics of electronic media are evaluated in the light of in-class monitoring.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Evaluation of journalism in Turkish television channels.
2The structuring of the news center
3Visual side of news bulletins: The news bulletins on the screen in different channels are examined.
4The way the channels operate and display the news as visual and content.
5The preparation of the bulletin for publication, the preparations made in the news center, the process of creating the flow are examined.
6News studio: The preparation of the news studio, the technical devices used during the broadcast
7Different principles, rules and traditions in news writing. Predicates used in message transmission. Features of flash, cam announcer. Characteristics of the body or voiceover text of the news text. Midterm- Action news, writing action news. Example events.

9Discourse news, writing of discourse news. Discourse news with example events.
10News sources and news gathering techniques in radio journalism. Radio news writing techniques, the 12 rules of the radio reporter.
11Creating applied bulletins, making news summaries. Issues of preparing national and international bulletins.
12General features of radio journalism, differences of radio news from other news types.
13Editing of radio news, radio news center, preparation of radio news for presentation.
14Radio news applications. Preparation of domestic and international news bulletins.
