Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Provide basic debates and issues in the Middle East politics.
Course Content The course will cover mainly the Arab world, Israel, Iran and Turkey. Within this framework, the state-formation process, the Arab nationalism, the Arab-Israeli and Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the political Islam, the political economy of the region and the question of democracy are some of the topics of this course. Furthermore, the students will discuss in detail the Turkish foreign policy towards the Middle East.
