Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of lesson; The aim of this study is to draw the framework of the concept and awareness of conservation by making a general introduction to historical environments, and to examine what kind of applications are evaluated in the world in order to adapt the structures in these environments to the present day, and the changes and updates in these application practices are examined comparatively and through examples.
Course Content The content of the course consists of the intervention techniques for re-evaluating the existing building stocks in Historical Environments in the World and Turkey, the criteria to be considered when applying these techniques, and the understanding of design from the perspective of Interior Architecture expertise.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Giving information on the purpose, content and conduct of the course.
2Explaining the general definitions of historical environment, protected areas and protected areas.
3The development of the concept of conservation in historical environments in the world and its presentation with examples.
4Types and causes of deterioration in historical buildings.
5Examining the internal deterioration of historical buildings, especially caused by human beings, through examples.
6Explaining Restoration Techniques in historical circles with examples from around the world.
7Examination of interventions such as Re-functioning, Adaptive Use and Renovation by detailing the interior plan schemes of the implemented buildings.

9Examination of the new building and additional building design in the historical environment, privatization of its effects on interior architecture.
10Explanation of design concepts in historical environment.
11General information and evaluation on student assignments.
12Explanation of the design criteria to be considered while re-functioning applications in the historical environment.
