Purpose and Content

The aim of the course To give information about thermal comfort and hygienic comfort from physical comfort conditions.
Course Content The concept of physical environment and physical environment elements, ways of heat dissipation, precautions related to the ways of heat dissipation in the building envelope, general information about heat-humidity, the purpose and scope of solar arrangement, climate and design factors, air conditioning systems, clean water installation, waste water installation, wet volume design, rainwater installation and fire installation.

Weekly Course Subjects

1General information about the course content / Physical environment elements / Physical comfort conditions / Standards and regulations in Turkey (Thermal insulation regulations, noise regulations, lighting standards)
2Heat and temperature concept/ Ways of heat propagation/ Thermal comfort and factors.
3Building envelope (single layer shell, double shell systems, smart shell systems)
4Transparent areas in the building envelope and types of glazing.
5Solar utilization and protection/ U coefficient.
6Climate and design factors (site selection and topography, orientation, building spacing, building form, building envelope design)
7Climate and design factors/ Shading analysis/ Examples of applying one of the active or passive systems to an existing project (flat collector, PV, trombe wall, sun room, etc.)
8Air conditioning systems and elements/ Integration of central and individual systems with architecture.
9MIDTERM EXAM
10Ventilation (Natural, artificial)/ Architectural requirements in natural ventilation/ Artificial ventilation systems.
11Determination of heating and cooling load/ TS 825 Regulation.
12Clean water installation and its elements/ Application on housing project.
13Sewage installation and its elements/ Application on housing project.
14Rainwater installation and elements/ Fire installation, organization of volumes and fire escape stairs.
