Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Interior design problems, from the simple to the multifaceted and complex, are explored through designs for existing buildings, emphasizing phenomenology.
Course Content The course exposes the student to the complete process of interior design, including concept, structure, construction techniques, style and period characteristics of furniture. Social and environmental issues and applicability are explored in depth through the design of small commercial buildings, retail units, offices, and restaurants. Studio work is carried out within the framework of different topics such as cultural, public, social, natural environment, construction techniques, and applicability.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Announcement of the subject, introduction of the project to be worked on and explanation of the preparatory work.
2Research to determine the thematic or metaphorical approach: In relation to the given topic, research on buildings inspired by nature and/or history; research on the designs of pioneering architects, Determination of user requirements, Determination of the zones and the activities to be organized in these zones, Defining spatial relations, Determination of semantic concepts and color studies
3Determination and presentation of the concept: Architectural Programme including area calculations, Bubble Diagram, Adjacency Matrix, Zoning Diagrams, Semantic Differential Table, Colour Palette, Concept Sheet. Determination and presentation of the concept. SUBMISSION OF STUDIES-(Preliminary Research) PRESENTATION and OPEN CRITICISM MEETING (4.a)
