Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	Teaching to the students emergence of social work as a profession and an applied field, historical development of in Turkey and in the world, intersections with other field of social sciences (such psychology, sociology, anthropology, law, economics, political science etc.), knowledge base and approaches and social work values and ethics.
Course Content	This course aims to introduce students to definition and basic elements of social work. Historical development of social work profession, social work philosophy and ethical principles and human rights.

Learning Outcomes

They acquire fundamental, up-to-date, and practical knowledge related to their profession.
Gains knowledge about occupational health and safety, environmental awareness, and quality processes.
Keeps abreast of current developments and practices in their field and applies them effectively.
Effectively uses information technologies (software, programs, animation, etc.) related to their profession.
Possesses the ability to independently evaluate professional problems and issues using an analytical and critical approach and to propose solutions.
As a team member, takes responsibility for resolving complex and unforeseen issues encountered in applications related to their field.
Has an awareness of career management and lifelong learning.
Tracks developments in the field using a foreign language and communicates with colleagues.
Possesses social, scientific, cultural, and ethical values in the stages of collecting, implementing, and disseminating data related to the field.
Can effectively present and clearly express ideas at the level of knowledge and skills through written and oral communication.
Knows the legislation, care services, and intervention methods for disadvantaged groups in the field of social services.
Analyzes social issues affecting individuals and society and develops solutions.
