Disabled Care and Rehabilitation

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that about 10% of the world's population is disabled. The proportion of the total population with disabilities in Turkey is 12.29%. The disability may be caused by genetic disease or environmental factors before and during childbirth, as well as due to factors such as accidents and diseases, natural disasters, war, and terrorist events. Disability is a situation that brings along both physical, psychological and social problems. While being disabled is defined as biologically, outside of being normal, it is defined as socially and culturally preventing the individual from living independently and easily in the social sense. Therefore, the appropriate socio-cultural environment that will enable disabled people to develop their abilities and take place in social life is important.

It will be through "Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Technicians" who have completed their education with different perspectives, preparing suitable environments for disabled people, being able to overcome the problems experienced by disabled people, connecting people who are in need of care and people with disabilities to life. In this regard, it is to train professional staff who know the disabled and know how to help them according to their disability by taking social service expertise in a different dimension.

Disabled care technicians can be defined as the manpower who uses the knowledge and techniques of disabled care with the training of disabled care, cleansing them from future anxiety, using their spare time productively, making them habitual and protective of their own body and living spaces.

 

Important Information

Ø Students; Training, practices, and internships at workplaces will be carried out within the framework of the principles and procedures determined by the Council of Higher Education.

Ø Graduates from the Disabled Care and Rehabilitation Program are awarded the Disabled Care and Rehabilitation" diploma and the title of "Disabled Care and Rehabilitation".

Ø When the student graduates, the courses and modules that show the competencies gained during the education period are indicated in the diploma appendix.

Ø When the student leaves before completing the program, a document showing the courses and modules showing the competencies gained during the education period is given.

Ø Professional qualifications gained in the program are used in career development in business life, certificate programs and transition to all other programs when requested.

Ø The program has an evening education.

Ø Students are admitted to this program with the TYT score type.

 

Career Opportunities

Disabled care and rehabilitation technicians can work in medical centers, clinics, hospitals, physical therapy and rehabilitation branch centers, nursing homes, disabled care centers, special education and rehabilitation centers, nurseries.

Candidates who have successfully completed their associate degree education can continue their undergraduate education in these programs with Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS)
