Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	to understand the society, commercies, culture, establishments and social changes
Course Content	Definition and importance of sociology. Major areas of sociology. Social approaches. Existence of sociology in Europe and Turkey. Individual and social groups. Social movement, statute, class and class distinction, culture.

Learning Outcomes

Has fundamental, up-to-date, and practical knowledge of the profession.
Acquires knowledge of occupational health and safety, environmental awareness, and quality processes.
Follows current developments and practices in the profession and uses them effectively.
Effectively uses information technologies (software, programs, animation, etc.) related to the profession.
Possesses the skill to independently evaluate professional problems and issues with an analytical and critical approach, and to present solutions.
Takes responsibility as a team member to solve complex and unforeseen problems encountered in field-related applications.
Has an awareness of career management and lifelong learning.
Uses a foreign language to follow developments in the field and communicate with colleagues.

6	Theoretical approaches II. Karl Marx, Max Weber, F. Tönnies Turkish sociologists; Ziya Gökalp, Prens Sabahattin
7	Social structure and commerce
8	Social groups and group dynamics
9	Midterm exam - Class, class distinction and social mobilitity
10	Culture
11	Civil institutions
12	Institution of the family and the education
13	Social change
14	Social psychology. Individual. Intra-group processes.
