Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Learning basic information about engineering materials
Course Content Scope of materials science, its development and place in engineering, classification of materials. Interatomic forces of attraction, crystal systems, close packing, alignment errors, lattice defects, solid solutions, atomic diffusion, precipitation, dispersion and strain hardening, aging. Mechanical Properties of Materials. Alloy, phase, component definition, phase law, cooling curves. Iron-cementite phase diagram.
