Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The Money and Capital Markets course aims to introduce students to the basic concepts, functions, and roles of capital markets within the financial system. The course will teach students about capital market instruments such as stocks, bonds, and derivatives and provide a comprehensive understanding of how capital markets operate.
Course Content The course covers the structure of capital markets, types of financial instruments, and components of the financial system. It also includes capital market transactions such as public offerings, repos, short selling, and margin trading, with practical examples and analysis. Students will also gain knowledge about the legal framework and regulatory bodies that govern capital markets.

6Financial Instruments – II: Derivatives – futures, options, and their features
7Capital Market Institutions: Brokerage firms, investment trusts, portfolio management companies
8Capital Market Law and Supervisory Authorities – I: Capital Markets Law, regulatory framework
9Capital Market Law and Supervisory Authorities – II: Functions of CMB (Capital Markets Board), Borsa Istanbul, and Takasbank
10Capital Market Transactions: Public offerings, repo/reverse repo, short selling, margin trading, fund transfers
11Stock Markets – I: Structure of stock trading, differences between markets
12Stock Markets – II: Indices, order types, trading examples
13Bond and Bill Markets – I: Definition of fixed-income securities, basic interest calculations
