Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of the course is to gain basic knowledge and experience in editing theories, editing settings on computer, video-graphic integrations.
Course Content It covers the first editing experiments, editing theories, possibilities / constraints in fiction, types of fiction, editing in computer environment, editing programs, editing applications.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Login. Discussion of the course content and how it will be handled. Distribution of the lesson plan.
2Definition of editing; syntactic, semantic and rhythmic functions; its place in the post-production process. Plan-scene-sequence. Transitions. Reading a plan for fiction (shooting scales, angles, camera movements, lighting, sound).
3Fiction principles of classical narrative films (invisible fiction).
4Learning Adobe Premiere (basic functions: cutting, video & audio transitions, title, export). Assignment of the first homework.
5Evaluation of the first homework. Teaching Adobe Premiere (video & audio effects, color correction). Giving the second homework
6Evaluation of second homework. Basic information about sound (frequency, amplitude, etc.). Edit audio in Adobe Premiere. Assignment of the third assignment.
7Evaluation of third homework. Explanation of digital editing terms (codec, sampling, etc.)
8Editing history and theories-1: Lumière brothers, Meliès, Porter, Griffith, Kuleşov, Pudovkin. Assignment of the fourth assignment.
9Evaluation of the fourth homework. Editing history and theories-2: Eisenstein, Vertov, Bazin, New Wave. Assignment of the fifth homework.
10Evaluation of the fifth homework. Characteristics of news editing. Tips for using the Edius program. Assignment of the sixth homework.
11Evaluation of the sixth homework. Multiple camera editing. Tips on using the Final Cut program. Homework of the seventh homework.
