Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	To enable students to learn the concepts of asepsis, antisepsis, disinfection, and sterilization, and to acquire the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to apply sterilization and disinfection methods, infection control measures, and safe working principles.
Course Content	Microorganisms and the concept of infection; infectious diseases encountered in dentistry and their transmission routes; standard precautions; principles of asepsis, antisepsis, disinfection, and sterilization; hygiene and cleaning of dental units; operation of the central sterilization unit; sterilization and disinfection methods; sterilization monitoring steps and safety tests; storage and protection of sterile materials; and waste management.
