Purpose and Scope


Article 1

 

The purpose of this directive is to ensure that planning and implementation are carried out according to the criteria set to guarantee that the academic staff of Istanbul Aydın University meets internationally accepted, up-to-date, technological, and educational standards, to keep the multi-dimensional training competence of the academic staff current, and to maximize the benefit from these competencies in educational processes by defining the training programs to be conducted.


Scope

Article 2

 

This directive covers the duties and working principles regarding the implementation of the minimum 32-hour "Training of Trainers Program" to be conducted at Istanbul Aydın University.


Basis


Article 3


This directive has been prepared based on Article 44(b) of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 dated 4/11/1981; the "Higher Education Quality Assurance Regulation" published in the Official Gazette No. 29423 dated 23/7/2015; and the Istanbul Aydın University Academic Assessment and Quality Enhancement Directive enacted by the Senate decision No. 2007-10 dated 27.12.2007.


Definitions and Abbreviations

Article 4

The following terms used in this directive;

a)  University: Istanbul Aydın University,

b)  Training of Trainers Unit (TTU): The unit responsible for planning, implementing, and improving the Training of Trainers Programs at the university,

c)  Training of Trainers Program (TTP): The minimum 32-hour Training of Trainers Program provided within the scope of Istanbul Aydın University Senate’s Academic Assessment and Quality Enhancement Directive,

ç) İAÜDB: The Personnel Department of the University,

d)  İAÜSEM: The University's Continuing Education, Application and Research Center,

e)  Participant: University academic staff attending the TTP,

f)  Module: A coherent learning process aimed at enabling participants to acquire specific competencies,

g)  Rector: Rector of Istanbul Aydın University, ğ) Senate: Senate of Istanbul Aydın University,

h)  UZEMER: The University's Distance Education Application and Research Center, 

ı) University (İAÜ): Istanbul Aydın University. 


SECOND SECTION

Program Structure and Operation

Article 5

 

  1. The Training of Trainers Program is conducted within the program specified in ANNEX-1. The program is organized at least once a year, considering the number of participants, before the Fall and/or Spring semesters.
  2. All newly recruited academic staff within the relevant academic year are required to participate, and active academic and administrative staff at İAÜ may also attend voluntarily. Participants are exempt from attending for the next three academic years but may attend upon request for professional development.
  3. Those who can document that they have received equivalent training from other universities’ Continuing Education Centers or similar institutions and those whose undergraduate education is in the Faculty of Education may be exempted upon request.
  4. Participants who actively attend at least 80% of the program are considered successful.
  5. At the end of the training, participants are entitled to receive the Training of Trainers Certificate prepared by İAÜSEM.
  6. If mandatory participants fail to attend without any exemption, the relevant dean's office is informed, and the legal process is carried out by the dean's office.
  7. Audio-visual materials created for distance learning modules cannot be publicly shared on video sharing sites. Unless otherwise stated, module recordings cannot be used, copied, reproduced, published, altered, distributed, and/or sold without the permission of the University and the respective instructors.


THIRD SECTION

Units’ Authorities and Responsibilities Units’ Authorities and Responsibilities

Article 6

 

(1)  The Training of Trainers Unit performs the following duties within the scope of this Directive:

  1. Coordinates among relevant units (İAÜSEM, UZEMER, İAÜDB) for the implementation of the TTP.
  2. Collaborates with relevant units (İAÜSEM, UZEMER, İAÜDB) in determining the content and scope of the TTP.

(2)  İAÜSEM performs the following duties within the scope of this Directive:

  1. Accepts participant applications notified by İAÜDB.
  2. Makes all announcements related to the TTP.
  3. Organizes technical and technological infrastructure services for the training.
  4. Ensures the preparation, publication of teaching materials, and sharing of participant data with assigned instructors.
  5. Prepares and delivers Training of Trainers Certificates to successful participants.
  6. Manages all secretarial activities related to educational services.

(3)  İAÜDB performs the following duties within the scope of this Directive:

  1. Prepares the list of participants in coordination with academic units and shares it with İAÜSEM.
  2. Monitors program completion and submits a report with relevant data to the Rectorate at the end of each semester.
  3. Requests Training Certificates and exemption documents for all academic recruitments; if missing, directs instructors to attend TTP via İAÜSEM.


FOURTH SECTION

Financial Provisions

Article 7

 

  1. Those contributing to the TTP (academic staff, administrative staff) receive additional payment (extra lecture and extra hours fee) proportionally, determined by the Board of Trustees.


FIFTH SECTION

Enforcement and Execution 


Article 8

This Directive enters into force on the date it is approved by the University Senate.


Article 9

 

The provisions of this Directive are executed by the Rector.

5.       Effective Communication: Communication models / Communication skills / Stress and conflict management / Body language /

6.       Effective Presentation Techniques: Preparing presentation materials / Techniques to increase participation and attention / Time management in training (3 hours)

7.       Educational Technologies: Relationship between learning, teaching, and technology / Web 2.0 technologies / VR-AR technologies / AI technologies / Virtual lab usage / Distance education technologies (6 hours)

8.       Assessment and Evaluation in Education: Basic concepts in assessment and evaluation / Desired qualities in assessment tools / Assessment tools used in education and their features / Points to consider in exam question preparation / Checklist and rubric use in performance evaluation (4 hours)

9.       Micro Teaching Practice Specific to the Field of Education: Social Sciences / Science-Engineering / Health Sciences (6 hours)
