Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Teaching the principles of transmission and distribution that ensure that electricity produced in power plants is transported to the consumer in an efficient and safe manner. For this purpose; It is aimed to introduce, teach and make choices of basic network elements such as poles, conductors, distribution transformers, on-off elements, protection elements, measuring elements that form the distribution line.
Course Content Identification of all elements and equipment that enable electrical energy to be produced in power plants and delivered to the consumer efficiently and safely, their types, working principles and selection principles.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Power plants, resources used in energy production.
2History of electricity production, transmission and distribution in our country.
3Examination of the concepts of Transmission and Distribution, characteristics of long and short distance energy transportation, general information about the interconnected system.
4The transmission and distribution system used in our country and voltage levels.
5Learning the types of energy distribution systems (network structure).
6Examining the advantages and disadvantages of networks according to distribution types.
7Electrical switchyards and equipment located in switchyards.
8Characteristics of distribution transformers.
9Midterm exam
10Opening and closing elements; disconnectors, power disconnectors.
11Opening and closing elements; circuit breakers, power switches.
12Identification of insulators used in energy transmission lines, their types, properties and selection.
13Protection elements; characteristics and selection of surge arresters.
14Protection elements; MV/LV fuses, relays, protection elements.
