In recent years, with the development and diversification of technology in the field of communication, technologies related to "new media" have become an important industrial sector worldwide. Consequently, a need has arisen to develop academic approaches, theory, and practice in the context of new media. The "New Media Application and Research Center" aims to meet this need. The Center aims to scientifically examine new media literacy and dynamics (social media – social networks – digital platforms) — in the context of global and national realities, and with a view to producing solutions to the problems individuals face in this field, guided by ethical values — and to deliver the resulting findings to the public through scientific-quality reports and articles. In line with this aim, the Center plans to carry out applications and research covering all stages of planning, preparing, delivering training for, and marketing original studies, creative projects, and their derivatives in the field of social media, alongside scientific theoretical knowledge in the field. Accordingly, the Center is planned to provide academic support to the education and training programs and scientific research conducted in these departments, particularly in the field of "new media."
Through the VRLab (Virtual Reality Laboratory) established at the Center, the aim is to scientifically examine new media literacy and dynamics (social media – social networks – digital platforms) in the context of global and national realities and in line with ethical values regarding the diffusion of innovation, with a view to producing solutions to the problems individuals face in digital environments — and to deliver the resulting findings to the public through scientific-quality reports and articles. In line with this aim, applied studies will be produced, analyses will be conducted in light of the digital data generated, and outcomes from these studies will be collected. In conclusion, new media — a prominent field in today's communication environment — is not yet being used properly or effectively. Brands and agencies are competing to employ creative and knowledgeable individuals who can use social media effectively and efficiently and who are capable of production. In this context, the planned "New Media Application and Research Center" will enable students from the relevant departments to develop cognitively in the field of new media and to gain hands-on application opportunities at the University's "Technology Center." This will allow them to enter their profession "one step ahead."
