COVID-19 Pandemic in Turkey and the World - Consequences of the Pandemic: General Information on the International Conference
The likelihood of infectious diseases emerging in one country and rapidly spreading to another has increased with globalization. A concrete example of this increase is the COVID-19 Pandemic; a “large-scale public health crisis” with adverse effects on all aspects of life, impacting every country and society worldwide, causing job losses that first led to an economic crisis and then to a social crisis, and whose negative effects will be felt by all nations for years to come. Minimizing the economic, social, and human impacts of the pandemic is only possible through “global solidarity.”
Considering these developments and with the aim of providing academics and practitioners the opportunity to discuss their knowledge on the subject in a scientific environment, to see different perspectives, and to refine their ideas, a panel titled “COVID-19 Pandemic in Turkey and the World - Consequences of the Pandemic” was held at Istanbul Aydın University Florya Campus on December 8, 2021, between 14:00-17:00. The main theme of the panel was determined as “Social, Economic, and Human Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic.”
Organized in cooperation with the China Studies, Africa, Environment, and Human Health-themed application and research centers operating within Istanbul Aydın University and the Eurasian Universities Union, the international panel aimed to “discuss different dimensions of the subject in a scientific environment.” Within this framework, the panel sought to study both the theoretical aspects and practical experiences of the theme “Economic, Social, and Human Impacts of the COVID-19 Pandemic” from different perspectives, including the approaches of national and international actors.
With the participation of distinguished and expert speakers from Turkey and around the world, this international event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Sedat AYBAR. Our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Aydın, honored us with his presence and delivered the closing speech.
