What is Corona Virus
PublishingHtml

Corona virus is a group of zoonotic viruses that are common in animals and transmitted from animals to humans. Corona virus is known to cause diseases that cause severe respiratory failure and pneumonia, resulting in death as it does not respond to antibiotic therapy.

What are the symptoms of Corona Virus?

The corona virus usually shows symptoms similar to the common cold. Crona virus symptoms are seen in the lower respiratory tract in infants and the elderly.

People who are infected with Corona virus may have the following symptoms:

Nose flow

Nose pain

Cough

Difficulty in breathing

Headache

Fever

Diarrhea

Nausea and vomiting

Uneasiness

Shaking

The corona virus emerging in China shows its symptoms in a longer time than the SARS and MERS viruses. People who have been infected with corona virus have started complaints of shortness of breath for a week after a mild cough according to the statement of Oxford University infectious diseases and global health professor Peter Horby. 15-20% of people who applied to the hospital with the complaint of breathlessness became serious and interventions such as respirators were needed.

Is Corona Virus Infectious?

Corona virus spreads as a result of human contact with animals. For example, it is believed that the spread of the MERS virus is caused by camels, and musk cats caused an epidemic in the SARS virus. Scientists do not yet know which animal is causing the existing virus seen in Wuhan. Scientists do not yet know which animal is causing the existing virus seen in Wuhan.

The factor that causes corona viruses to be transmitted from person to person is usually the contact of saliva pieces from the cough of a sick person. Corona virus can also be transmitted by touching something that the infected person touches and then touching the mouth, nose, or eyes. In other words, the fact that the coronavirus seen in Wuhan is transmitted from person to person is confirmed by experts.

The critical point for experts is to find out who infected the corona virus and find the answer to the question of whether the infection is most common in hospitals or in the community. Because SARS and MERS viruses were spread mostly in hospitals.

What diseases does corona virus cause?

The corona virus often infects the airways. Pneumonia can cause acute respiratory failure and kidney failure. Especially in people with a history of hepatitis, diabetes and low immunity, it can have fatal consequences.

Who Does Corona Virus Affect?

MERS and SARS often caused serious illness in the elderly. It is not clear who Wuhan viruses, which are similar to MERS and SARS virus, affects. Experts say that people who have ever had corona viruses are 40 years of age and older, and this virus has not been seen in any child.

How is Corona Virus Treated?

The World Health Organization, the European Union Commission, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations have announced that they started to develop a drug to be used in the treatment of the corono virus. Since there is currently no drug to be used for corona virus treatment, the answer of "how to treat?" is not clear.

Since antibiotics are not effective in combating the corona virus, medicines to reduce symptoms in the body are recommended by doctors. In addition, balanced diet, plenty of water and sleep should ensure the regression of the disease in a short time.

What Should Be Done to Protect yourself from Corona Virus?

Since there is no vaccine developed against this rapidly spreading virus group, you can protect yourself by following the hygiene rules:

Stay away from people who are sick.

Do not touch your eyes, nose and mouth with your hands.

Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Cover your mouth and nose with your arm while coughing or sneezing. Disinfect the surfaces you touch.

Avoid contact with animals. Do not consume raw or undercooked meat.
