The 10th Prof. Dr. Alaeddin Asna Symposium on Communication and Public Relations, organized this year under the theme “Public Relations and Participatory Democracy: Public Interest and Rights-Based Communication Strategies,” will be hosted by the Department of Public Relations and Publicity within the Faculty of Communication at Istanbul Aydın University.

The multidimensional communication and interaction opportunities offered by the digital age are reshaping the ways in which individuals and social actors participate in public and political life. In particular, artificial intelligence technologies and new media environments enable individual and institutional discourses to reach large audiences rapidly, while also redefining the understanding of democracy around the concept of “participation,” beyond pluralism and freedom. Within this transformation process, public relations assumes a significant role in areas such as public interest, social consensus, rights-based communication, and sustainability. The symposium aims to discuss the function of public relations within participatory democracy through both theoretical and practical perspectives, focusing on contemporary issues including digital activism, ethics, crisis communication, social justice, eco-activism, and resilience.

Abstract submission deadline: September 4, 2026

Symposium Dates: December 2–3, 2026

Venue: Istanbul Aydın University Florya Campus

Participation is free of charge.

For detailed information and applications:
