Purpose and Content

The aim of the course The aim of the course is; • to maintain the Radio/TV students the required level of knowledge about the light and lighting for camera and aesthetic design of the scenes • to teach them how to use the light and sound devices of the TV broadcasting companies correctly and efficently. • to teach them how to create light effects by using the light construction techniques, how to manage the light source and how to use different types of lighting in different locations. • to teach them how to work in line with other professional groups .
Course Content The course content is divided into 5 main sections: 1.Examining the physical structure of light 2.Natural and artificial light sources and where to use them 3.Types of lighting and various lights used to illuminate\lighten a scene as key light, fill–in light, background light, back light 4.Physical attributes of sound, microphone types 5.Lighting materials

1Light and Lighting in cinema, basic attributes of light: Action, Reflection, Promotion
2Physical quality and quantities of light: Light speed, wave length, visible light, light refraction and reflection
3Light Sources: Natural and artificial light sources
4Types of Projectors : Daylight, Frensel,Quartz
5The purpose and functions of lighting : Objective, Subjective and psychological lighting
6Types of Lights used in Lighting: Key light, Fll-in light, Back light, Fon ışığı, Background light, Kick up light
7Lighting Techniques: Rembrandt,Cameo,Silhouette, Notan, Chiaroscuro Lighting Control: Mechanical control, Control by Reflection Light control: Mechanical control, control by means of the projection
8Shadow, the benefits of shadow, technical effects of shadow, psychological effects of shadow, artistic effects of shadow, shadow usage techniques,
9Midterm exam
10Sound, sound waves, the characteristics of human voices, sound speed, general characteristics of sound waves,frequency, amplitude, wavelength, tone, decibel concept
