  • The Department of Medical Microbiology in the faculty of medicine is a branch of medical science that focuses on the study of microorganisms and their interactions with human health. Microorganisms are small living organisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites that can cause diseases in humans. The Department of Medical Microbiology studies the biology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of infectious diseases caused by these microorganisms.

  • Our Mission
  • The mission of the Medical Microbiology Department of the Faculty of Medicine is to contribute to the advancement of medical science by conducting research, training and providing clinical services on infectious diseases caused by microorganisms. Our goals;
  1. To train quality healthcare professionals to conduct creative, innovative and inventive research in the field of medical microbiology and to provide reliable diagnostic services.
  2. To conduct research on the biology, pathogenesis, and epidemiology of infectious diseases caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, with the ultimate goal of improving the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of these diseases.
  3. To provide high-quality education and training in medical microbiology to medical students, residents, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and manage infectious diseases.
  4. To provide clinical services related to the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, including consultation and laboratory services.
  5. To collaborate with other departments and institutions to promote interdisciplinary research and to advance our understanding of infectious diseases.
  6. To engage in outreach activities to raise public awareness about infectious diseases, their causes, and ways to prevent them
