MEDICAL BIOCHEMISTRY DEPARTMENT

Biochemistry, which is no different from the chemistry of life; It is a branch of science that studies the structure, functions and interactions of biomolecules. The functioning of metabolism in living things, the control of metabolic pathways, the examination of disorders in metabolism are evaluated within the scope of biochemical research. In addition, clinical biochemistry, which is important for the diagnosis of diseases in medicine, includes the examination of various body materials with various chemical and molecular biological methods.

The Department of Medical Biochemistry plays a very important role in medical education by providing students with a strong foundation in the fundamental principles of biochemistry and molecular biology. Students are trained in laboratory techniques such as protein purification, enzyme assays and chromatography to prepare them for careers in clinical practice or research. Our department conducts the biochemistry and clinical biochemistry courses in the medical faculty education and training program theoretically and practically.

Our Mission

Investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying normal cellular function and the pathophysiology of disease
Developing new diagnostic tools and treatments for a range of diseases, including cancer, metabolic disorders and genetic diseases
Educating the next generation of medical professionals and researchers in the principles and applications of biochemistry and molecular biology
Collaborating with other departments and institutions to foster interdisciplinary research and advance our understanding of human health and disease
To transfer current basic and clinical biochemistry knowledge to all our students by following the scientific and technological developments in the field of medical biochemistry.
To contribute to the training of physicians who are aware of the health problems of our country and produce solutions

The vision of the Department of Biochemistry is to become a recognized and distinguished unit in the field of Biochemistry and Clinical Biochemistry in Turkey by providing medical students with excellent educational skills.
