MEDICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

The Department of Medical Education, as an academic field of study within the structure of Basic Medical Sciences, is engaged in creating, putting into practice and developing the Integrated Education Model in undergraduate medical education at the Faculty of Medicine of our university. The formation of a separate medical science discipline in medical education started with the establishment of the "Medical Education Unit" in a university in the USA in 1958. The new medical education model created by this unit was first implemented in the Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in the 1970s in our country, and the Department of Medical Education was established in the 1990s to develop this model. Later, Departments of Medical Education were established in many Medical Faculties.
It was decided by YÖK in 2016 to start the education of Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine. The Department of Medical Education was one of the first departments to start working in order to create and implement the education model of IAU Faculty of Medicine.
Our Mission
The mission of The Department of Medical Education, is the development and coordination of pre- and post-graduate medical education studies in our University's Faculty of Medicine and providing the necessary infrastructure and staff opportunities for these studies. Thus, ultimately contributing to the development of medical education in our country.
Our Vision
The IAU Department of Medical Education aims to integrate with national and international medical education institutions in matters related to medical education and training, and to train well-trained physicians who can carry out academic studies and thus contribute to public health.

Principles: To organize and conduct education, training and research activities in accordance with international scientific and medical ethical principles and rules.
Education: The implementation, coordination, and evaluation of Measurement and Evaluation methods of the Medical Skills trainings recommended by YÖK are carried out during the Basic Medical Sciences and Clinical Medical Sciences education periods at the Faculty of Medicine of our University.
Academic Studies: Relevant academic studies are planned for the development of all kinds of simulation training and applications required for pre-graduation, post-graduation and continuing education, as well as infrastructure and laboratory facilities.
