Infrastructure & Facilities

Program-specific, there are two separate practice rooms designed to support the practice-oriented structure of Child Development education.

The Child Development Practice Laboratory is an educational environment where students can monitor and assess children’s developmental characteristics using scientific measurement and observation methods and implement development-supportive educational and play-based practices. This laboratory was established in line with the outcomes of the Developmental Monitoring and Assessment Unit and aims to enable students to learn assessment and intervention approaches related to cognitive, language, motor, social-emotional, and self-care developmental domains through hands-on practice. Within the laboratory setting, students gain direct experience in developmental observation, developmental screening tests, play-based assessment techniques, and documentation and reporting processes. They also develop skills in planning early support and development-enhancing activities for children with both typical and atypical development. The Child Development Practice Laboratory provides a practice-oriented learning environment that supports students in developing ethical, evidence-based, and child-centered professional competencies, preparing them for professional practice.

The Child Development Drama and Play Workshop is an educational environment where students carry out creative, production-oriented, and practice-based activities in the field of child development. This workshop is structured as a learning space in which the processes of designing educational materials appropriate to children’s developmental needs, developing games and activities, preparing sensory materials, and planning development-supportive practices are taught through hands-on applications. Within the scope of the workshop, students implement games, activities, and materials for different age groups and developmental domains; creative drama, art-based activities, sensory integration–supportive practices, and applications related to early childhood education. In addition, students gain skills in evaluating the developmental appropriateness of the materials they design, making adaptations, and organizing activities according to individual differences. The Child Development Workshop is an important practice area that supports students in integrating creativity with professional knowledge, developing practice-oriented problem-solving skills, and experiencing the identity of a child development specialist through an active, productive, and innovative approach.
