The Message of Head of Program
Content
Today, the science of nutrition is not only about coping with diseases; it is about preventing them before they start, improving quality of life, and supporting the physical and mental well-being of individuals in a holistic way. We are living in a time when obesity and related chronic conditions pose a global threat. Yet, we are fully aware that nutrition is not limited to obesity alone—it spans a broad spectrum from the microbiota and genetic predispositions to public health and sustainable food systems. We are committed to conveying this comprehensive perspective to our students.
By its very nature, nutrition is a multidisciplinary field. It encompasses medicine, basic sciences, health communication, and public policy. A dietitian is a key professional who carries the responsibility of shaping not only individual but also public health. At Istanbul Aydın University, our Bachelor of Science program in Nutrition and Dietetics (English) is designed with this responsibility at its core.
One of the major advantages of offering education in English is that it enables us to train students who can access and understand scientific knowledge not only at the national but also at the international level. As the field of nutrition rapidly evolves, being able to follow scientific literature, engage in global collaborations, and actively participate in multicultural professional environments is no longer a privilege—it is a necessity. Our curriculum is carefully structured to provide students with the competencies required to meet this global standard.
With the support of Istanbul Aydın University's strong infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, experienced academic staff, and student-centered approach, we aim to educate visionary, inquisitive, ethically grounded future dietitians. Our students receive a comprehensive education that enables them to take on meaningful roles in hospitals, community health, academic institutions, and nutrition policy-making processes. They also benefit from a wide range of opportunities such as double majors, minors, and international exchange programs.
