Aydın TÖMER was established in accordance with the regulation published in the Official Gazette dated March 6, 2011 (Issue No. 27866) and commenced its activities in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners that same year. Since its inception, the center has hosted thousands of students from diverse geographical regions, backgrounds, professions, and academic histories; throughout this process, it has positioned Turkish language instruction not merely as an activity for acquiring linguistic skills, but as a holistic educational process that introduces Turkish culture and strengthens intercultural interaction.
By structuring its educational programs in alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), Aydın TÖMER aims to equip its students with internationally recognized and comparable language proficiency. Accordingly, in addition to its instructional activities, the center regularly administers the Turkish Proficiency Exam—which assesses and certifies students' language levels—and issues internationally valid certificates to successful students.
Beyond its teaching activities, the center has also made contributing scientifically and academically to the field one of its priorities. To this end, four international symposia have been organized to date, and "Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language" certificate programs have been launched to support the professional development of instructors working in this field. Furthermore, poetry and debate competitions have been organized to enable international students to develop their language skills in creative and interactive environments, thereby encouraging them to establish a productive relationship with the Turkish language outside the classroom.
Aydın TÖMER also closely monitors the academic and social integration processes of international students; Through the "Workshop on Challenges Faced by International Students and Proposed Solutions," organized in line with this objective, the difficulties encountered by students were addressed with the participation of relevant stakeholders, and solution-oriented proposals were developed. Such activities demonstrate that our center adopts a holistic approach—extending beyond mere language instruction to also prioritize student well-being and integration.
