Aydin Tomer

Istanbul Aydın Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center (Aydın TÖMER) is a higher education unit established in accordance with the regulation published in the Official Gazette dated March 6, 2011 (No. 27866), which commenced operations in the field of teaching Turkish to foreigners that same year. Since its inception, the Center has provided Turkish language instruction to thousands of students from diverse countries, backgrounds, professions, and academic histories; throughout this process, it has approached language education through a comprehensive framework that introduces Turkish culture and fosters intercultural interaction.

Structuring its educational programs in alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), Aydın TÖMER aims to equip its students with internationally recognized language proficiency. To this end, the Center regularly administers the Turkish Proficiency Exam and awards internationally valid certificates to successful students.

In addition to its educational activities, Aydın TÖMER aims to make scientific contributions to the field. Within this scope, it has organized four international symposiums to date and launched "Certificate Programs for Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language" designed for instructors working in this field. Events such as poetry and debate competitions—which enable students to enhance their language skills outside the classroom—and the "Workshop on Challenges Faced by International Students and Proposed Solutions"—which focuses on the academic and social integration processes of international students—serve as tangible reflections of the Center's student-centered approach.

Adopting the principles of intercultural sensitivity and empathy, academic integrity and transparency, inclusivity and equal opportunity, continuous improvement and a focus on quality, internationalization and global citizenship, as well as a learner-centered approach, Aydın TÖMER continues to offer a high-quality, inclusive educational environment aligned with international standards to every individual wishing to learn Turkish.

  Message from the Director

Dear Students,

Language is the most direct path to truly understanding a society. Since 2011, in our work at Aydın TÖMER, we have done more than simply teach grammar and vocabulary; we open the doors to a culture for our students.

Since our inception, students from all corners of the globe have walked through our doors, each bringing a unique story and learning style. This diversity has taught us that effective language education cannot be confined to a standardized mold. Consequently, we design our programs to align with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages while remaining flexible enough to accommodate each student's individual journey.   Continue Reading...
