Purpose and Content

The aim of the course This course aims to enable students to grasp the basic concepts, historical development, and working logic of artificial intelligence, and to gain the ability to use this technology effectively and ethically as an "Academic Assistant" (note-taking, planning, language learning, etc.) in their university lives.
Course Content Artificial intelligence and intelligence concepts; Machine learning and algorithmic thinking structure; Human-Computer Interaction (HCI); Use of artificial intelligence as an academic assistant (summarizing, planning); Artificial intelligence in language learning and communication; Visual literacy; AI ethics, algorithmic bias, and data privacy; Digital citizenship and future vision.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Concepts of AI and Intelligence: Definitions of human intelligence and artificial intelligence, historical development, the Turing test, and basic concepts.
2The Logic of Learning Machines: What is machine learning? How does it learn? Algorithmic thinking structure and types of learning.
3Human-Computer Interaction (HCI): The role of humans, principles of interaction with technology, user experience, and interface psychology.
4Academic Assistance I (Introduction to Prompt Engineering): Techniques for establishing correct communication with AI, creating context, and assigning roles.
5Academic Assistance II (Information Management): Summarizing course notes, simplifying complex texts, and creating concept maps.
6Academic Assistance III (Planning and Organization): Time management, preparing weekly course schedules, and creating study calendars.
7Language and Communication Applications I: Practice in foreign language learning, vocabulary acquisition techniques, and error analysis.
8Midterm Exam
9Language and Communication Applications II: Academic translation support, text editing (proofreading), spelling check, and tone management.
10Digital Production and Visual Literacy: Creating visuals for presentations, media analysis, detection of disinformation, and deepfakes.
11Artificial Intelligence Ethics: Algorithmic bias, discrimination, transparency, and responsibility in AI decisions.
12Security and Data Privacy: Protection of personal data (GDPR/KVKK), digital footprint management, and cybersecurity awareness.
13Social Transformation and Future: The future of the workforce, the concept of digital citizenship, and sustainable technology use.
14General Evaluation: Semester summary and student feedback.
