Purpose and Content

The aim of the course	Theoretical education about conservation of real and portable historical artifact in all aspects.
Course Content	protection of historical artifact in museums, presentation of museums, organizational goals, museology movements in Turkey, features of the historical artifact exhibited and stored in museums, reasons of historical artifact deterioration and explanation about humidity, relative humidity, light, air pollution, biological activity.

Learning Outcomes

Has the basic knowledge, skills and concepts in specific culture, aesthetics, methods, techniques and materials that are based on competencies gained in general or vocational secondary education
Can consciously define and use the data that is required for the solution of well-defined problems While producing building survey, restitution proposal and restoration projects.
can express explicitly the design and applications related to restoration,coservation,reconstruction to their colleagues,seniors and the people they provide service.
can do an interdisciplinary study.

Weekly Course Subjects

1	Definition of conservation and restoration,definiton and history of restitution, theory of historical restoration,definition of contemporary restoration, concepts of contemporary restoration.
2	History of conservation in Turkey and the chronological order, definitions related to the cultural property that must be protect as tangible cultural property (mobile cultural property, Monuments, Sites of natural sites, historical sites, archaeological sites, urban sites, rural sites of complex sites)
3	Concepts related to international protection, national protection concepts, legislation, national regulations and ınternationally accepted ethical rules in conservation.
4	The factors that cause deterioration of monuments, explanation of restoration project, explained, Restoration Project, Restoration techniques.
5	Archaeological Restoration , historical environmental protection, the basic elements of historical environment
6	the factors that cause historical environment degradation
7	protection of historical environment(protection planning, documentation of detection, environmental analysises)
8	re-use problems of historical environment
9	new structure in historical environment,evaluation
10	Cultural and Natural properties, rating, evaluation, Conservation Methods of cultural and natural properties
11	Conservation of ethnographic artifacts in Portable Cultural properties ; definition, basic information
12	Ethnographic textile artifacts,conservation of archeological artifacts in portable cultural properties,definition, basic information
13	Definition and conservation of Clay works in portable cultural properties
14	Conservation of clay works, definition and conservation of mosaic in portable cultural properties
