Purpose and Content

The aim of the course teaching calculation methods about streght of materials, by using basic principles of plastic deformations of rigid bodies, which are necessary for machine elements.
Course Content Basic principles of deformative rigid bodies mechanics, proberties of materials used, basic principles of strength of materials,external loads applied to the mechanic systems, single and distrubeted loads, torque reduced on an axis, strain and stresses depends on the applied loads , dimension and deformation analyses, forces acting on load carrying rods, strength diagrams, actial normal stresses, buckling strain, bending strain, combine strain.

Weekly Course Subjects

1Plastic rigid body mechanics, basic concepts, rigid body, Hook law, elastic and plastic materials.
2Basic loading conditions of carrier systems, safety coefficient, safety strength.
3Meaning of strength abd strength types.
4Drawing stress diagrams for different loading conditions of carrier systems.
5Relations between strain and stretching.
6Axial normal strain analyses and applications. Dimensioning and deformation calculations.
7Thermal effect on axial normal strain, three knuckle rod carrier systems, effects of thin wall ring.
8Cutting and sleeping strain analyses and applications.
9Midterm Exam
10Torsion strain and applications
11Torsion strain and applications
12Basic bending strain, elastic curve methods and applications.
13Combined strain and applications.
14Buckling and applications.
