Program Overview

Program Scope and Career Objectives: The Istanbul Aydın University Department of Recreation is a comprehensive four-year undergraduate program that centers on the critical impact of recreation and leisure on human health and well-being. The scope of the program encompasses the service processes of recreational activities (sporting, social, cultural, artistic, etc.), local and international cultural elements and the managerial and economic dimensions of the recreation industry. Throughout their education, students gain a deep understanding of the multidisciplinary nature of recreation, developing the ability to synthesize health sciences, tourism, arts and management. Upon successful completion of the curriculum, graduates enter the professional world with the title of "Recreation Specialist" and achieve professional proficiency at the Senior Coach level.

Academic Approach and Educational Philosophy: The academic approach of our department is rooted in providing the technological, creative and communication-driven competencies required by the 21st century on a rigorous scientific foundation. Our curriculum is characterized by a balanced distribution consisting of 12.4% General Education, 41.6% Vocational Knowledge and 46% Field-Specific Knowledge. Our educational philosophy extends beyond the mere transfer of theoretical knowledge; it aims to cultivate visionary leaders who are committed to ethical values, possess a high sense of social responsibility and demonstrate advanced scientific research capabilities. To ensure the continuity of educational quality, the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle, driven by internal and external stakeholder feedback, is actively implemented.
