1. What is the Coaching Education Department?
The Coaching Education Department is an academic program that aims to train experts who can coach in different branches, improve athlete performance, and prepare scientifically based training programs by bringing together the theoretical and applied fields of sports science. In this department, students gain both academic and field experience by taking theoretical courses such as training knowledge, exercise physiology, human anatomy and kinesiology, sports biomechanics, and teaching principles and practices in sports, as well as practical branch training.
2. Is there a special aptitude test for admission to the department?
Yes. Admission to the Coaching Education Department is done through the Special Aptitude Test (ÖZYES) conducted by ÖSYM (Student Selection and Placement Center). Prospective students must first take the Basic Proficiency Test (TYT) and exceed the threshold score determined by ÖSYM. The TYT score is a basic prerequisite for ÖZYES application. Candidates who pass the threshold are eligible to apply for and take the Special Aptitude Test on the dates announced by our university. The Special Aptitude Test consists of various courses and tests designed to measure candidates' motor skills, sports abilities, coordination skills, and performance levels. The success score obtained from the exam is evaluated together with the candidate's TYT score. In the calculation made by ÖSYM through the central system, a certain percentage of the TYT score is combined with the Special Aptitude Test score to obtain the placement score. Based on this score, candidates are placed in the universities and departments they prefer. Therefore, candidates who want to enroll in the Coaching Education Department must both pass the TYT threshold and achieve a successful result in the Special Aptitude Test. At the end of the process, a ranking is made starting from the highest score within the quotas announced by ÖSYM, and the candidates who have earned the right to final registration are announced.
