​The Istanbul Aydın University Student Council regulations contain articles regarding the student representation process.

SECTION THREE: Department, Program, Major, and Art Branch Student Representative

Article 8 - Election of Student Representatives: The Department/Program/Major/Art Branch Student Representative is elected by a simple majority of those participating in the election for a one-year term, separately for each class of each program/major/art branch in the faculties, colleges, or conservatories of Istanbul Aydın University: a) Each department in the faculties, colleges, or conservatories; b) Each program in the vocational schools; c) Each major/art branch in the institutes; d) In faculties, colleges, or conservatories where students are admitted to the program/major/art branch within the departments, the Department/Program/Major/Art Branch Student Representative is elected with the participation of class representatives. A representative can serve for a maximum of two consecutive terms. Elections for Department/Program/Division/Discipline Class Representatives and Student Representatives are conducted by an Election Committee, chaired by the Head of the relevant Department/Program/Division/Discipline and consisting of at least three members. For elections to be held for Department/Program/Division/Discipline student representatives, at least 60% of the students enrolled in the department/program/division/discipline (including evening students, if any) must participate in the first round, and at least 50% in the second round. If no election is held in the first two rounds, the majority and participation requirements are waived for the third round. If a Department/Program/Division/Discipline Student Representative loses their eligibility or resigns before the end of their term for any reason, a new representative will be elected within one month using the same procedure to complete the remaining term.

Duties of the Student Representative

Article 9 - The duties of the Department/Program/Major/Discipline Student Representative are as follows: a) To carry out the Student Council activities in the department/program/major/discipline they represent, b) To announce the decisions taken by the Student Council organs in the unit they represent and to monitor their implementation, c) To attend the meetings of the Department/Program/Major/Discipline Student Representatives Board of the faculties, colleges, conservatories, vocational schools or institutes and to represent the students of their department/program/major/discipline at these meetings, d) To identify student problems in the department/program/major/discipline they represent and to communicate them to the Student Council and the relevant administrative bodies of the higher education institution for their resolution, e) To represent the students of their department/program/major/discipline in student activities, f) To facilitate communication between the students of the department/program/major/discipline they represent and the administrative bodies of these units. g) To develop, h) To coordinate student activities in the department/program/major/discipline they represent, i) To attend academic meetings of the department/program/major/discipline they represent when discussing student-related issues.
