Purpose and Content

The aim of the course To give basic information about the system for combustion phenomena and burner, to recognize and classify fuels used in internal combustion engines that be used in automotive and other processes, to detailed analysis combustion period that occured in heat process and related machine.
Course Content Introduction to combustion technology, Classification of fuels, Refining , Classification of gaseous fuels, Classification of Hydrocarbons, General characteristics sought in liquid fuel, Burning and burning equations, ignition temperature, dew-point temperature and air properties, H/Y ratio, types of burning( theoretical complete combustion, complete combustion, incomplete combustion and partial incomplete combustion), stoichiometric air, excess air, percent excess air, missing air and percent missing air, Analysis of combustion products, Reaction enthalpy and enthalpy of combustion, Calorific value of the fuels, The first law analysis of the reaction system, General reaction equations in terms of introductory magnitudes, Calculation of volumetric fractions of products and maximum CO2 , Drawing the combustion diagram, Solving problems related to the drawing of the combustion diagram, Equilibrium constant concept,Analysis of incomplete combustion and partial incomplete combustion products, Adiabatic flame temperature, Photodisintegration( dissociation) and the effect of adiabatic flame temperature, Entropy changes of reactive systems, The second law analysis of the reaction system
