Purpose and Content

The aim of the course Within the framework of historical awareness, the origins, development, and contributions of various sciences to contemporary life are conveyed to students by establishing bridges between ethics and philosophy. Meanwhile, interconnected developments in science, philosophy, and ethics are presented, and finally, the stories of some important inventions that have profoundly impacted human life are shared.
Course Content This course focuses on the following steps in order: - Definition, meaning, and importance of history
- Some wars in history, their effects on human life, and their impact on scientific development
- Definition and classification of science, general characteristics of science and research; the relationship and distinctions between science and technology
- Historical development of science; antiquity, mysticism/spiritualism, the Enlightenment, empiricism, positivism, and neopositivism
- Relationship between science and philosophy - Relationship between science, philosophy, and ethics; ethics-morality, the relationship and distinctions between ethics and morality, definition of ethical codes
- Historical development and results of the science of ethics; Hedonism, Virtue Approach, Utilitarianism, Meta-ethics, 20th/21st Century Ethics, Practice
- Contemporary practical ethical issues; wars, discrimination, hunger-poverty, the death penalty, environmental ethics, etc.
- Stages of technological development in science; Classification of science from technological, philosophical, and cultural perspectives - Factual approaches to some scientific developments and discoveries.

2Definition, meaning, and importance of history. Basic characteristics of historical science and its relationship with other sciences.
3Some wars in history and their consequences. The effects of wars on human life and scientific developments.
4Definition of science, basic characteristics of science and research. The relationship between science and technology.
5The historical stages and evolution of science.
6The relationship between science, philosophy, and ethics.
7Ethical trends in history and their relationship with philosophy and science.
8The historical development of science from a technological perspective.
9The discovery and use of fire and its impact on the historical development of science and the importance of fire in human life.
10The impact of the use of land on the historical development of science and the importance of land in human life.
11The impact of the use of water on the historical development of science and the importance of water in human life.
12The effects of tool-making skills on the historical development of science and human life.
13The invention and widespread use of writing and its effects on the historical development of science and human life; Other important developments and inventions and their impact on the historical development of science and human life.
14Some scientific and technological developments from a factual perspective: The stories of vaccines, antibiotics, the discovery of quinine and insulin, zippers, ratchets, elevators, telephones, etc
